Peter Cronin, Director of the USAID Office for Democratization, and Ismar Porić, General Manager and Artistic Director of the “House of Good Tones” in Srebrenica, officially opened today a modernly equipped Multimedia and Interdisciplinary Center with a library in the premises of the “House of Good Tones” in Srebrenica.

The center is intended for children and youth in the Srebrenica region, and the “House of Good Tones” will provide them with programs through which they will acquire new knowledge and skills, socialize, and collaboratively design activities that will benefit both them and their community.

“USAID is happy to have the opportunity to work with the ‘House of Good Tones’ and support young people in Srebrenica. We are proud that this center for young researchers from Srebrenica and the region is a platform that connects. In this era of globalization, it is crucial to provide them access to educational content and a space where they can explore innovations and new knowledge,” emphasized Cronin.

The center is equipped thanks to the participation of the “House of Good Tones” in USAID’s Peace Project “PRO-Future,” implemented by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) from Sarajevo. On this occasion, representatives of the “PRO-Future” project donated books for the library and praised the initiatives undertaken by the staff and users of the “House of Good Tones.”

“The center is open daily, and all users have the opportunity to participate in educational workshops as well as cultural, entertainment, and artistic programs. All the content we create is accessible to everyone, and everyone can take part in its creation. We strive to host quality lecturers, and every new perspective and experience is welcome. By engaging with the activities we offer, children and youth will spend their free time more meaningfully and more easily overcome the challenges of today’s world,” said Porić, adding that the idea for this center emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of creating a space that would positively respond to all epidemiological measures while serving as a window to the world for new generations.

The mission of the “House of Good Tones” is to design and create programs for children and youth of different ethnic backgrounds, guided by their interests and the interests of the community, based on the principles of universal social values and the principles of multiethnicity.

In addition to musical activities, several hundred children and youth participate in dozens of educational and entertainment programs: media literacy, foreign languages, workshops on youth activism, dance and theater workshops, and more.
